There are many, many spectacular sights in New Zealand – mountains, lakes, fiords, the coast and so on. But, as you approach Mt. Cook/Aoraki from the south, traveling along Lake Pukaki, you have a lot of time to soak it in and see how it rises head and shoulders above the surrounding mountains.
